My name is Rachel and I am an Illustrator, pursuing professional freelance work. I work as a digital associate at a comic book publisher and I fiddle with a variety of things, always seeking new challenges and knowing that there is always room to improve! :)

In the previous few years, I have won a place in the Society of Illustrator's annual student exhibition as well as "Outstanding Performance in Illustration" (Best In Show) at the senior thesis exhibition at Moore College of Art & Design (2014). I have exhibited my work at art festivals and small art galleries and attend several comic-conventions in the Artist Alleys.

I primarily work digitally, using a Wacom tablet and Adobe Photoshop CC. I also enjoy traditional media, especially pencil/ink drawing and oil painting (sometimes acrylics).

My main artistic interests are book cover/pinup art and character design or fantastical portraiture. I have a strong interest in fantasy/sci-fi genres and anything that allows me to infuse some rock-n-roll into my work.

Woo!  Another thousand views in under two months' time!  I've also seen a seemingly permanent rise to my daily views.  This is exciting stuff, for me anyway.
Hopefully this is a sign that the quality of my work is improving, that my skills are sharpening... but it is definitely also due to my faster production!  I'm very pleased with this, but I'd like to perhaps slow down to work more intensively, focusing heavily on improvement, and taking my time to REALLY create some portfolio worthy show-pieces!  I have a semi-steady stream of commissions coming in as well, so I've adjusted my prices to better reflect the demand + my work.  It's certainly not enough to justify even thinking of leaving my day job (which is fine because I rather enjoy my day job!) but it is a step in the right direction towards one day being a freelance illustration, living by creating art.  Soon I'd like to start selling my traditional pieces (pencil/ink drawings and paintings).
I updated my website a bit, if anyone is interested in checking it out!  It's colorful and makes me happy to see.  It much better reflects who I am as an artist.  Link to Website Here

Otherwise, I don't have much to report!  I'm currently in discussion about 3 larger-scale commissions... I have line-art in the works for 2 new pieces (tentative).  I'm practicing perspective so I can create more dynamic, interesting pieces with greater variety.  And I am working on inking/coloring/and lettering my comic (a collaboration: drawn and written by two friends of mine).  The first full issue of the comic should release at the end of March!  If you'd like to buy a print, commission a piece, buy some original artwork... email me, check out my web-store (link below), or see me at any of the conventions I'm tabling at this year! :D

Thank you, always, for your support!

Roller Radicals by Rachel-Perciphone
Roller Radicals
This is one of the most interesting commissions I've ever taken on!  They wanted a few elements to be included for a screen-print stencil art for their new team shirts.  The elements they wanted were: hamburgers, sugar skulls, the statue of liberty, a rule book, and roller derby of course.  So it was a fun challenge to combine them all!

Then, they commissioned me to create a colored version for a tattoo (which you see here).

Thank you!  :D  I'm glad you like it.  I promise I'll show away my inner introvert and say "hi" the next time I see you at a convention!  I'm hoping to start getting a table at smaller cons next year, myself.
