So, I reached 11,000 views a while ago and neglected to type up my usual journal entry.  Oops.

This summer I have been very busy!  I tabled at a convention for the first time (Philadelphia Wizard World - happy to say I made some profit) and I've been working on commissions, prints, sketches, annnndd a comic!  It is a comic with two buddies from my hometown and I have been given the task of inking, coloring, AND lettering.  We will have a 6-page preview available starting this August, just in time for the first of my fall conventions!  I also attended Special Edition - NYCC, and that was fantastic.  Met a few artist buddies in person, caught up with a few I don't get to see very often, bought some great art, and enjoyed some nerdy fun with friends!  It was great.  Maybe I'll try to table there next year; who knows?  It is definitely a 3-year goal.

This fall, I will be tabling at Twin Tier Comic-Con in upstate NY as well as Baltimore Comic-Con.  Locust Moon Comic Festival in October is yet to be determined... I will also be attending (just for fun!) NYCC in October and will be cosplaying as Kim Possible and Atom Eve this year!  I'm very excited about all of that.

In my own, personal non-art related world, I have been catching up on some reading and creating better habits by working out every morning and afternoon, as well as making a point of flossing every night and eating more fruits / veggies and less meat.  Saves money and helps me avoid using the stove/oven with all this summer heat!  I'm pretty proud of the daily work outs and I am starting to see some nice muscles forming! Woo!

My cat is happily spending her summer days relaxing in the window, occasionally meowing at a bird or bug, and leaving her fur /everywhere/. And in great abundance.  I've gone so far as to lint roll her and it doesn't seem to be helping :P But, I love her anyway.

Keeping this short!  As usual, if you are interested in commissioning me for work (sketch covers, art pieces, coloring...) let me know!

My name is Rachel and I am an Illustrator fresh out of college, pursuing professional freelance work. I work as a graphic designer at a comic book publisher and I fiddle with a variety of things, always seeking new challenges and knowing that there is always room to improve! :)

In the past year, I have won a place in the Society of Illustrator's annual student exhibition as well as "Outstanding Performance in Illustration" (Best In Show) at the senior thesis exhibition at Moore College of Art & Design. I have exhibited my work at art festivals and small art galleries with upcoming shows scheduled for 2015. It is my goal to start showing at Artist Alleys at east coast Comicons next year as well.

I primarily work digitally, using a Wacom tablet and Adobe Photoshop CS6. I also enjoy traditional media, especially pencil/ink drawing and oil painting (sometimes acrylics).

My main artistic interests are cover/pinup art and character design. I have a strong interest in fantasy/sci-fi genres and anything that allows me to infuse some rock-n-roll into my work.

My Storm by Rachel-Perciphone
My Storm
One of my favorites (as she is for many) and I have been dying to paint my idea of Storm for a while now.  I love redesigning costumes and characters and giving them my own twists.  It was important to me to incorporate a bit of her background with the decorative, gold trim on her cape.
Very happy with how this turned out, though of course I could nit pick forever.

This was a portrait commission I did for someone.  A fun project to have!  I very much enjoy fantastical portraits.

Thank you!  :D  I'm glad you like it.  I promise I'll show away my inner introvert and say "hi" the next time I see you at a convention!  I'm hoping to start getting a table at smaller cons next year, myself.

You have some interesting pieces. You mention that you are a comic book publisher. Maybe you want to come over to my gallery and have a little look at what I've been working on.

I will gladly take a look at your profile when I get out of work :)
But, I am not personally a comic book publisher.  I work for one called Dynamite
